How To Qualify For Crufts


General

    
The dog is a Champion

The dpg has qualified for entry in the KC Studbook by a set date (see "Stud Book Entry")




All other qualifications must occur during the qualifying  period. For Crufts 2016 this period was 19th January 2015 to 18th January 2016. Dates may vary for other years.



Championship Shows (with CCs)


The dog has won any of the following awards:


    
First, Second or Third in Minor Puppy Class
First, Second or Third in Puppy Class
First, Second or Third in Junior Class
First, Second or Third in Yearling Class
First, Second or Third in Post Graduate Class
First, Second or Third in Limit Closs
First, Second or Third in Open Class
First, Second or Third in Veteran Class

The dog won First place in any breed class at the preceding year's Crufts.



Premier Open SHows




The dog has been declared Best Of Breed at a Premier Open Show (provided that there were more than 3 breed classes and the first date of the show was between the qualifying dates)

The above list of Shows is subject to approval, by The Kennel Club Ltd. Breed classes may not always be scheduled for Pyrenean Mountain Dogs.



General or Group Open Shows




The dog has been declared Best In Show, Reserve Best In Show or Best Puppy In Show at a General or Group Open Show (between the qualifying dates).



Sted Book Entry




If the dog has gained an entry in the KC Stud Book, the owner(s) will have received a certificate acknowledging the fact.




Means of gaining entry in the Stud Book




The following achievements entitle a dog to an entry in the Stud Book:





Challenge Certificate
Reserve Challenge Certificate
Junior Warrant *
1st or 2nd place in an Open class (at a Championship Show where Challenge Certificates are on offer for the breed).





* Junior Warrant is an award that can be achieved by a dog, between the ages of 6 and 18 months. The criteria  for applying for a 'Junior Warrant' can be found below.





Junior Warrant

The dog must have 25 points in total.
3 points are awarded for each Championship Show class win (where CCs are on offer for the breed).
1 point is awarded for each Open Show class win, or a Championship Show class win (where CCs are not on offer for the breed).
(You can only claim points if the dog is placed 1st  in a Breed Class, such as Puppy, Graduate, Limit, Open, etc.)
N.B. Best Puppy, Any Variety and Any Variety Not Separately Cl;assified classes do not count.
The dog must be between 6 and 18 months of age when claiming points.
A minimum of 3 points must be from Championship Show Shows (where CCs are on offer for the breed).
A minimum of 3 points must be from Open Shows (Championship Shopws without CCs are regarded as Open Shows).
Junior Warrant points cannot be claimed if there are less then 3 dogs present in the class.
The dog can claim one point for Best Of Breed at an Open Show, but only if not able to claim a point for a 1st prize in a breed class and only where there are three or more dogs present in the breed.
The dog can claim points for 'Special' Breed Classes (i.e. Special Beginners, Special Yearling) provided that these classes are listed under the breed classification and the relevant number of dogs are present
The dog can claim points for 'Stakes' classes at a Single Breed Show provided that the relevant number of dogs are present.
