Explanation Of Terms

When assessing puppies listed (right) the following terms should be taken into account:

A Hip Score indicates that the Sire or Dam has been X-rayed for Hip Dysplasia. Although a low score is likely to reduce the incidence of Hip Dysplasia in the puppies it is not a guarantee. The average score for Pyreneans, of 12, is quite low compared to other breeds.

A Champion title ('Ch'') shows that the dog has been successfully assessed for Breed Type by at least three Championship Show judges and a Stud Book Number (if shown) indicates that a dog has been successfully assessed for Breed Type by at least one Championship Show judge.

Other Champion titles exist (e.g. Ir Ch, Am Ch, Can Ch) and these indicate that the dog has achieved the title of Champion in another country and, potentially, against a different breed standard.

A Junior Warrant ('JW' appended to the dog's name) indicates that it has won a number of classes at Championship and Open Shows, where at least 3 dogs were present, before the age of 18 months. Achieving a Junior Warrant also automatically grants the dog a Stud Book Number (see above).

A Show Certificate of Merit ('ShCM' appended to the dog's name) indicates that it has won a number of 'Best Of Breeds' and Group places at Open Shows. There is no time limit to achieving a Show Certifcate of Merit.

[Imp] appended to a dog's name indicates that it was first registered in another country and has been imported to the United Kingdom and the transfer registered with the Kennel Club.
